Since 2017, CIDP has developed innovative techniques to assess the effects of blue light on the skin. Preliminary tests were performed in vitro on cell cultures and ex vivo on human skin explants to study the detrimental impact of blue light.

Moreover, in vivo protocols were set-up to be able to evaluate both the protective and repairing effect of cosmetic products against blue light. Our 24/7 connected lifestyles especially during lockdown periods can significantly increase the impact of blue light on our skin.

Studies conducted at CIDP showed the various effects that this visible light can have on the skin such as oxidative stress, inflammation, appearance of pigmented spots and premature aging of the skin.
